Freestyle and Greco Schedule in Alexandria

Freestyle / Greco Wrestling
Alexandria
Grades 4-12

We are excited to offer a local freestyle /greco wrestling program here in Alexandria for wrestlers in grades 4 - 12. This is a great opportunity to “extend“ and enrich your season as well as learn and participate in a slightly different style of wrestling.

Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling are the predominant forms of wrestling throughout the world and are contested internationally and at the Olympics. Freestyle wrestling does have slightly different rules and scoring, but is very comparable to “Folk style” and wrestlers adapt quickly to the new style.  Most importantly, practicing Freestyle wrestling makes you a better folk style or high school style wrestler.

Practice will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings in the wrestling room at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria beginning March 12

Practices:         March 12 – March 31              7:30 – 9:00 PM
                        April 4      – May 31                6:30 – 8:30 PM

Fee:  a $20 fee will be charged to cover facility rental.

If your wrestler wishes to compete in Freestyle wrestling tournaments, they are held throughout the state.  Information on tournament locations can be obtained by viewing http://mnusa.wrestlingsystems.com/

If you are interested in participating or have further questions about the program or style of wrestling, please attend a practice in the wrestling room at Discovery Middle School, or feel free to contact Scott Johnson (Coach) at 320-760-6217  or Brendan Bogart 320-762-6279
