Hunter Fick


Fick Claims Another State Title

Sat., December 1st Hunter Fick competed in Sioux Falls, SD in the USAPL Sioux Empire Bench Open.  The event was held in the McCrossan Boys Ranch Gymnasium and was sanctioned by the United States of America Powerlifting Association. 

The event featured 29 competitive lifters, each athlete attempts three lifts in the bench press.  Hunter competes in the Teen ll amateur division of this organization which includes 16-17 yr old men that are tested for substances.  This is a natural competition.  All gear the athlete wears must be checked in during the weigh-in process and each lift is judged by three officials.  Hunters first attempt was 335 lbs.  After the start, press and rack command Hunter claims his 2nd Minnesota title in a month.  The 2nd attempt was at 355 lbs, Hunter cleared the lift for a new American title but the lift was disregarded for a voice command infraction.  The 3rd attempt of the day scratched.  Hunter’s new record exceeded the old MN record by 48 lbs.  Hunter placed 1st overall for the Teen Divisions and 2nd in power points for the overall behind SD lifter Casey Raaen.  The meet was directed by Jona Leo and head official was SD USAPL chair Becky Jacobsen. 

In attendance was Cole Fronning, great aunt Carrie Fisher and father Kevin Fick.  Hunters next competition is Jan. 13th  in Burnsville, MN.  The event is called the UPA Southside Winter Heat sanctioned by the UPA (United Power lifter Assoc.).
